Grasshopper Dessert

2 packages (3 oz.) or 1 package (6 oz.) Jell-O Lime Gelatin
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups cold water
2 tablespoons green crème de menthe liqueur
1 envelope Dram Whip Whipped Topping Mix

Dissolve gelatin and sugar in boiling water. Add cold water and liqueur.  Pour 1 cup into a bowl and chill until slightly thickened.  Pour remaining gelatin mixture into a 9 inch square pan.  Chill until firm - at least 3 hours.  Cut into 1/2 inch cubes.

Meanwhile, prepare whipped topping mix as directed on package.  Blend into slightly thickened gelatin.  Pour into a 3 - cup bowl.  Chill until firm - about 3 hours.  Unmold the creamy gelatin in the center of the shallow serving bowl.  arrange gelatin cubes around the mold.  Garnish with chocolate curls, if desired.

Makes about 5 cups or 8 - 10 servings.

How to Cube Jell-O Gelatin

1 package (3 oz) Jell-O Gelatin (any fruit flavor)
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup cold water*

*For very firm cubes, cold water may be reduced to 1/2 cup.  For softer cubes, cold water may be increased to 1 cup.

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.  Add cold water.  Pour into a shallow pan.  Chill until firm-at least 4 hours or overnight. (cubes hold their shape best when gelatin is chilled over night.)  Then cut in cubes, using sharp knife which has been dipped in hot water.  To remove cubes from pan, apply warm wet cloth over bottom of pan, then remove with spatula.  Or quickly dip pan in warm water and invert on wax paper.  Serve in sherbet glasses with cream or fruit, if desired.
